Broadridge joins NYSE tokenised securities push

Tokenised stock platform expands into shareholder voting and governance.

Broadridge plans to bring on-chain governance and transfer agency services to NYSE's tokenised securities platform.

The news comes amid Broadridge's broader strategy to build institutional infrastructure for tokenised securities across their full lifecycle.

Tim Gokey, chief executive at Broadridge, said the company is building the governance layer for tokenised equities and will extend those capabilities to the New York Stock Exchange's planned platform. “We're pleased to bring these capabilities to the NYSE's tokenized securities platform,” he said.

The platform is scheduled to launch following regulatory approval and will allow NYSE-listed companies to tokenise their shares for trading. Broadridge's governance smart contracts will connect tokenised securities to meeting agendas, voting rules and verifiable voting results, while also supporting proxy material distribution and shareholder voting.

Investors will be able to access the services through supported digital wallets, broker interfaces and Broadridge's ProxyVote platform.

The agreement also includes the integration of Broadridge's digital transfer agency services, enabling issuers to manage both traditional and tokenised shares through a unified framework.

Lynn Martin, president at NYSE Group, said tokenisation had the potential to transform how issuers interact with shareholders. She added that integrating Broadridge's services would help connect tokenised trading, clearing and governance within a more unified ecosystem.

The announcement marks another step in the growing institutional adoption of tokenised financial assets. Estimates for the tokenised real-world asset market now range from roughly $19bn to more than $60bn, while forecasts from major financial institutions suggest the market could reach between $2tn and $16tn by 2030.

Broadridge has been expanding its tokenisation offering through its DLX platform and says its Distributed Ledger Repo solution processes more than $360bn of tokenised real-asset transactions daily. The S&P 500-listed firm employs around 16,000 people across 28 countries.
